'Amnesia'

Kelly, a dementia carer in Rhyl (and daughter of two Tom Jones tribute acts), is brilliant at her job. Whether it’s Edna, the serial biter, or Astrid who thinks her Nana is a bin, Kelly knows exactly what she’s doing. Proudly raised on ClubLand, waltzers, and summer’s snogging scousers, she’s furious when she discovers her best friend is leaving for a city with a Pret. Concealing her own life-altering news, she spirals out of control and risks losing everything. Written and performed by Kimberly Hart-Simpson (Coronation Street, Brassic) directed by the award winning Kate Wasserberg in association with Theatr Clwyd.

Amnesia has been programmed at Pleasance Courtyard, Bunker Two, from 5th-31st August 2026 at 16:25pm and will be going on sale May 5th!

The Team

Writer/Actor: Kimberly Hart-Simpson

I am a Welsh actress and writer, currently part of the Women in Film and TV Cohort 2026 as a comedy writer. Amnesia is optioned for TV as a workplace sitcom, and I’m excited to bring its adapted stage version to the Fringe.

My acting credits include Coronation Street, Brassic, Mount Pleasant, the Royal Exchange, and Oldham Coliseum, to name a few.

I grew up in the seaside town of Rhyl, often subject to unwarranted negative press. I’m proud of its resilience and the people who fight for its future. Amnesia is inspired by my time as a dementia carer, celebrating those who care for our loved ones.

Director : Kate Wasserberg

Kate is Theatr Clwyd’s award-winning Artistic Director. Her production highlights include Boys from the Blackstuff (Liverpool Royal Court, National Theatre & West End), The Glee Club and Rita, Sue and Bob Too (Stockroom), and The Glass Menagerie, A History of Falling Things, All My Sons, Insignificance and The Rise and Fall of Little Voice (Theatr Clwyd). Kate has kindly donated her time to direct Amnesia, along with the continued support in kind with Theatr Clwyd.

Producer: Queenie Miller

Comedy Producer at Hat Trick Productions / Edinburgh Comedy Award Nominated Live Producer. With several years of successful shows under her belt at the fringe, she is top of her producing game. Previous shows include: Amy Mason - Behold, The Origin of Love, Bella Hull - Doctors Hate Her, Joz Norris - Time Passes.

All donations will be directly contributing accommodation, marketing and production costs (tech and sound design).

Why?

Dementia is the leading cause of death in the UK, affecting around one million people and countless families and carers alongside them. Yet despite its scale, many still go undiagnosed, and the human stories behind the condition are often overlooked. This show seeks to hold space for both the grief and the joy, celebrating the life, humour, and connection that continue to exist in the face of dementia through Kelly's lens, who is undoubtedly, put on this worth to care.

This show is dedicated to those affected (including my uncle G) xxx
