Funding the Fringe.

Using the power of the crowd to raise vital funds for Fringe artists, venues and creatives.

Following a successful fundraising campaign in 2020, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society and Crowdfunder have teamed up again to host the FringeMakers platform, supporting the many artists and creatives who make the Fringe happen every year by providing them with a way and space to generate financial support.

Last year the FringeMakers platform collectively raised £360,000 for more than 100 artists and venues.

The Fringe will return in 2021, with events taking place online and live in Edinburgh from 06 – 30 August.

This year’s festival will take place on a much smaller scale than previously, with outdoor venues including beaches, city squares, courtyards and pedestrianised streets. Audiences can also enjoy Fringe shows online, including via the brand-new Fringe Player: an exciting new digital platform hosting both in-demand and scheduled online shows. However, with artists and creatives still feeling the brunt of many months without paid work or financial support, they need your help now to raise vital funds to help them take part in the festival.

We believe that now is the time to come together as a Fringe family and support the FringeMakers that create and animate the festival every year. If you’re an artist, venue or creative, we’d love to help you get set up on the platform so you can start fundraising.

If you’re a Fringe fan, we’d like to invite you to explore the wonderful array of individual projects on the platform and donate what you can – the cost of a ticket, a round of drinks, literally whatever you can afford.

The Fringe wouldn’t exist without the incredible creative souls who bring their extraordinary work to Edinburgh every year. It’s their dedication, commitment and sheer hard work which bring the festival to life.

They are the Fringe
; we want to help them, and this wonderful festival, to continue for generations to come.

Crowdfunding has been hard work, but totally worth it! We are amazed by the response from our supporters and now our dream of taking our show to the Fringe is a reality.
