Aim

We've made it to Edinburgh but now we need to pay the people who made it happen!

Hallo!

We’re Emmeline, Jack and Carrie, and we’re now in the midst of taking our debut play, We Had Fun, to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. We've had amazing reviews from critics and audience members alike, and it really feels like a dream come true.

Until we look at the cost spreadsheet, that is...

We are so, so grateful for everyone that has donated their time, energy and money to get us where we are. But gratitude doesn't pay the bills of our cast and crew.

We are 25% of the way towards our crowdfunding goal, which is amazing, but now we need to dig deeper. We've still got some amazing prizes up for grabs, and we'd love you to take a look to see if anything steams your pudding. We don't want hand-outs, we want you to gain something too.

If none of the rewards tickle your fancy, drop us an email ([email protected]) and we'll try to source something for you! The best possible outcome is that we all gain something from this. AND you're supporting fair working practices in the arts!

Our story...

  • In 2019, Emmeline made a BFI short film about consent (Keep Breathing) which went viral with 3M+ views.
  • In 2022, clips were taken out of context and hijacked by the 'manosphere' on TikTok as “evidence” of how easily women can falsify rape claims.
  • If every toxic comment Keep Breathing received was worth £1, we'd have funded We Had Fun many times over.
  • We've deliberately created a nuanced 'anti-romcom' that starts meaningful conversations, rather than preaching or demonising.
  • We're certain the only way forward is to keep talking about these issues like adults - but we can still have a bit of gallows humour along the way.

About the play

Where did it all go wrong? Well, it depends who you ask. Close friends Oscar and Ela navigate the fallout of a drunken sexual encounter as their conflicting versions of events are replayed, rewound and re-written against the sensory medley of a wild night out.

Olivier & Tony nominated Carrie-Anne Ingrouille (SIX the Musical) directs the World Premiere of this distinctly un-romantic dark comedy and ‘fascinating exploration’ (Daniel Finkelstein, The Times) of the greyest areas of consent and sexual politics.
