Help bring Woven to the Fringe!

Woven is an original musical that takes a classic tale and flips it on its head. It's about dreams and deception. It's about lies and liaisons. Most importantly, it's about the beauty of female friendship. 

Set in the present day, seven women attend a wake where they discover that their lives are mysteriously intertwined. Now, they must untangle the threads. Inspired by Homer's The Odyssey, Woven tells the story of women coming together as the truth comes to light. 

Woven debuts at the Edinburgh Fringe in August 2023 — the inaugural production for woman-operated theatre company, Nine Muses Theatre Co. To create a fully realized production, Nine Muses Theatre Co. is raising £3,000 to cover the cost of cast and crew compensation, music equipment, and set design! But...before we ask you to open your hearts and your pocketbooks, allow us to introduce ourselves.

Jessa Smith Campbell, creator of Woven, founded Nine Muses Theatre Co. in 2023. Its conception was born from the desire to create a space where new voices are brought to the forefront. She noticed, after years in the industry as a performer, that stories worth telling were often overlooked and undervalued by the industry. In response, she built a platform where artists can find support, develop new work, and feel empowered throughout the creative process. The cornerstone of Nine Muses Theatre Co. is to cultivate a community that promotes diversity, inclusivity and transparency, and advocates for the artist.

Next to join Nine Muses Theatre Co. was Molly Kinnon, a powerhouse on and off the stage. Molly has worked consistently as an actor, lecturer, and director in both the US and the UK. She has a Bachelors in Musical Theatre from The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and a Masters in Classical Acting from The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. She resonates with Nine Muses' principal goals: to support, to amplify, and to diversify. Nine Muses is fortunate to have Molly on the team as she offers impressive knowledge about theatre, an incredible work ethic, and endless positivity.

Julie MacLean is a force in the marketing industry, having worked for several reputable PR agencies across the United States. After receiving her Bachelors in Theatre with a minor in Creative Writing from Colby College, she moved to LA to find opportunity, and she has seen success ever since. She happily joined Nine Muses to provide guidance regarding marketing strategy and press communication. Julie brings a wide breadth of knowledge to the team as she has excelled as a writer, actor, comedian, and marketing manager. She stands by the company's will to fight for equity and inclusivity.
