Who are The Weird Sisters?!

Our creative team is made up of Eliza Waters, Marie-Laure Corben and Dalia Kay. Eliza is our magical composer, lyricist and MD, and Marie-Laure and Dalia are our enchanting book writers. All three creatives are also the show's producers.

A little about our brand new comedy musical...

The Weird Sisters is centred around three kooky and charismatic witch siblings - Amaranth, Scarlett and Blush. The siblings are desperate to expand the sisterhood, so attempt to initiate the audience into their coven. Yet, the spell backfires and the witches are flung into the human world! Weaved within the tongue-in-cheek antics of the show, the witches learn truths about themselves, the sisterhood, and about how witches have been treated in the human world throughout history…  

Overall, The Weird Sisters is a musical that centres around three complex female characters, exploring themes of sibling dynamics, female relationships, and grief. Our punchy power-pop soundtrack accompanies our audience through a journey of self acceptance in this comedic yet moving tale. 

Our small but mighty all-female creative team have been working tirelessly over the past few months to fundraise and successfully secure a venue - we are extremely ecstatic and incredibly impatient to perform at ‘Just the Fancy Room’ at Just the Tonic’s The Caves (Venue 88)!!!

We cannot wait for this incredible opportunity, and are so grateful to Just The Tonic for believing in us and our magical show - the team are firing up the cauldron ready to "expand the coven" in light of the overwhelmingly positive reception it received at the inaugural Leeds Theatre Festival in July. We’ve received traction like being featured on Sam Hall’s The Craft of Writing ‘I Want Song’ podcast, and being selected to perform at Manchester theatre company Blue Balloon’s International Women’s Day cabaret.

However...

As young graduates, it is increasingly difficult to sustain the costs of bringing our new writing to the Fringe - our total is over £4000 including venue costs and accommodation.

We are nothing if not determined though! The Weird Sisters are recipients of the 2024 Edinburgh Keep It Fringe Fund, selected from over 700 applicants by a panel of industry professionals. Alongside this, we have also been featured in the lineup for other concert-style profit-share events such as Blue Balloon's IWD Cabaret and Ray Productions' New Age Fundraiser.

Now, we must summon the generosity of the coven and rally the sisterhood! In order to take our beloved musical to the Fringe, we need all the help we can get to make our show a success. This is where you come in!

No contribution is too small - anything you can donate will be gladly and gratefully appreciated by the sisterhood. The proceeds from this crowdfunder will go directly towards venue/technician hire costs, and costuming/prop updating <3 

And who knows, perhaps anyone donating over a certain amount will receive an extra effervescent thank-you video from the Weird Sisters...
