Aim

Building Edinburgh Fringe's carbon-conscious, fully vegan food trailer powered by hydrogen fuel cell and solar energy.

Venue 13 is back for 2026! We are fully accessible, inclusive, and led by an amazing neurodiverse team. This year we want to take our commitment to sustainability one step further by putting a carbon-conscious, fully vegan food trailer right outside our venue.

The aim of the project is for the trailer to run on a mix of hydrogen fuel cell and solar power. Local and well loved independent plant-based food vendors will serve from it across the full Fringe run.

We want to prove that festival food can be delicious, affordable, plant-based, and carbon-conscious. If a 50-seat independent venue can do this, larger venues and festivals have every reason to follow.

Our renewable energy partners, as well as the vendors are on board. Venue 13 will sort facilities, and the required licenses.

What we need from you is the £6,800 in upfront cash costs that cannot be avoided or donated in-kind: these funds will go towards parking bay licenses, trading licences, and portacabin setup costs.

Every pound raised through this crowdfunding goes directly to permits and setup. Nothing else. The food, the energy, the marketing, the venue welcoming you with open arms this August: all covered.

This is a pilot year. If it works, we will share the model and the contacts openly so other venues and festivals can replicate it. Help us get the permits sorted and we will do the rest.
