Help End of the World Theatre Company take TV Apocalypse to the 2022 Edinburgh Fringe!!

TV Apocalypse Synopsis

The world will end in 7 days. Jamie and Sam, a lesbian couple, watch society crumble from the comfort of their sofa, wondering if it’s even worth trying to survive in a homophobic world. TV Apocalypse explores love, death, and the treatment of queer people at the end of the world. It’s like a extra existential episode of Gogglebox!

A Bit About the Project

I (Alex Curry, writer-director of TV Apocalypse, founder of End of the World Theatre Company) first wrote TV Apocalypse back in January 2020, blissfully unaware of what was to come, with the intention of taking it to the Edinburgh Fringe that year. Of course, this didn’t happen. Further covid complications prevented me from taking the show up in 2021, but now, at the third time of asking, we are finally on our way: the accomodation booked, the venue decided, the cast cast!! Over the past two years, I have been revising the script, realising how prescient many of the themes are and were — I truly believe that this is a play for today, that speaks to our current societal state.

End of the World Theatre Company is the company I created for the purposes of taking TV Apocalypse to the 2020 Fringe. When this didn’t happen, I kept the name with the intention of making more theatre under the company banner, whilst working to finally take TV Apocalypse to Edinburgh. In October 2021, we were finally able to put on our first show, I Cut My Nipples Off Today, a one person play available to watch, for FREE, on the End of the World Theatre Company YouTube channel. As a company, we aim to make theatre that is unapologetically queer, that reflects the world we live in, and that moves people emotionally. TV Apocalypse is the next step on this journey.

How We Will Use Your Money

We at End of the World Theatre Company are all, currently, students studying at the University of East Anglia. We are receiving no external support to put on this play, no external funding (other than the money you will hopefully give!), everything is on our time and out of our pockets — which, being students, aren’t particularly deep. Your money will be used to help us with many of the fees that are an inherent part of putting a play on at the Edinburgh Fringe: venue hire, program registration fees, accomodation rent. End of the World Theatre Company does not make a profit — our last show wasn’t close to breaking even — your money will be used to help lessen the financial burden on all those involved in putting on this amazing show.

In Conclusion…

Thank you so much for reading this far, thank you so much for considering to give money, a million thank yous if you are actually going to. Every donation helps and it really means the world to us.

If you are interested in watching the show, we will be at theSpace @ Northbridge from the 4th to the 13th of August, so please do come along! Keep an eye on our social media (@endoftheworldtc on all platforms) for ticket links, posters, trailer, the whole shabang! Also keep an eye out for fundraising events we will be doing over the coming months, the first of which is happening very soon!!!
