The Skarsgård Effect is premiering at the Edinburgh Fringe this year, help fund our run and future development of the play!

Synopsis

Three sisters. One lie. What's the worst that could happen? Follow the adventures of three ordinary girls as they stumble headfirst into the disorderly world of fame, and transform themselves from nobodies to global superstars. The Skarsgård Effect is a comedy about hubris, nepotism, AI deepfakes and what happens when you lie too close to the sun. It’s a love letter to the paradoxical world of the performing arts, and the fantastic Skarsgård family. 

Essentially, a cautionary tale about the current overuse of AI woven into a farcical depiction of the rise to fame (made by, and supporting real artists). Our main goal is to provide an affordable hour of lighthearted comedy with an undertone of poignant social commentary. With a story as laughable as it is relatable, the writer hopes to add a touch of her Swedish heritage to the myriad of cultures represented at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Aims

Writer, performers, director, tech and other involved creatives operate on a profit share basis. The production has so far been made possible thanks to people’s goodwill, and your donation ensures we can pay our creative team for their generous efforts.

In line with the show’s AI commentary, an important part of our budget goes toward supporting real artists rather than utilising generative AI (for artwork, music etc.), and funding would allow us to continue growing our network of up-and-coming creatives.

We also do our utmost to fight the rising ticket prices by making the show financially accessible, with tickets at only £10, concession discounts and increased donations to the CTI. Your donation would greatly support us in this attempt to offer affordable entertainment.

Your donation will not only help fund our debut run at the Edinburgh Fringe, but further development of the play. We hope to translate it into Swedish, and bring it to Sweden for a run in 2027 (Hej alla Svenskar!).
