We are raising funds to take our student-led sketch show 'The Manchester Revue Saves the World' to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Hi!
We’re The Manchester Revue, and we’re heading to the Edinburgh Fringe for our 6th year in a row. In our first year we performed a sold out run, and since then we have been garnering some brilliant reviews, being dubbed ‘the funniest sketch show I’ve seen at the Fringe for year’ in 2024, whilst last year Broadway World said we were ‘one of the most unique - and hilarious - sketch shows you are bound to see’. Safe to say, we’ve been putting the work in.
This year we are taking ‘The Manchester Revue Saves the World’ to Edinburgh. Our show celebrates the weirdest, wackiest and most wonderful parts of life as we count down to a meteor crashing into our venue at the end of the show. We examine throuples, playground disputes and dinner ladies in our exploration of what it is to be human.
We also have an incredible team of young actors and creatives: Ben Mccamley, Aila Macnaughtan-Clark, Fraser Crook, Ella Hardy, Sophie Hampshire, Hope Briggs, Henry Pywell and Larkin Armstrong.
We’re incredibly proud to be the most recent iteration of the revue, and we’re having so much fun creating new and original sketches. Comedian Stevie Martin has been a massive support to us this year, and we are feeling a rising support for sketch comedy with SNL UK. However, each year it gets increasingly more expensive to bring a show to Edinburgh.
Student comedy is massively under threat, and we are by no means immune to this. As such a relatively new revue, we have no alumni that are able to support us yet, and as a student group we are unable to completely fund our run ourselves. We’ve been working hard this year to save every penny that we can, however as accommodation and venue prices rise, we are still facing a shortfall of £1,500.
Any donations or external help would be massively appreciated. Your kindness and generosity would mean the world to us, and would help a group of young comics make their way to Edinburgh. No matter how little or large, your donation would help to keep student comedy thriving, and would allow us to continue bringing shows to the Edinburgh Fringe in the future, creating brilliant opportunities for students in years to come.
Thank you so much for your consideration,
The Manchester Revue Team.
