Aim

Looking to support arts AND climate? Help us bring eco-theatre project Stop the World, We're Getting Off to Edinburgh Fringe this summer.

Tenderfoot Theatre are a young, queer, and female-led eco-theatre company based in Lancashire. Combining climate activism with dynamic storytelling, we use a range of creative sustainable methods to ensure our productions tell sustainable stories, using sustainable methods - some of our previous methods include a fully compostable set and costume made from kombucha tea scobies. We're crowdfunding to help cover some of the accommodation costs of taking our new production Stop the World, We're Getting Off to the Edinburgh Fringe this summer.

WHY DONATE?

Stop the World, We're Getting Off seeks to dismantle the feeling of hopelessness in the population boom. With so many voices and so little action, it's understandable to feel unease at the rate of climate change and the impact it is already having on people around the world. The show was devised off the back of a verbatim research and development project into the eco-anxiety surrounding family planning in the midst of the climate crisis - from those desperate to build a better world for their future children to those who wonder whether having children is the 'right' thing to do, and those who haven't ever stopped to consider the impacts. With a cast and crew of recent Edge Hill Uni and LMA graduates, supporting Stop the World does two things - it supports young creatives in their first year of making innovative, sustainable theatre work, and helps us spread a message of hope in the face of the crisis. It's an almost-apocalyptic love story to bring people together and leave us galvanised and hopeful for our future, together.

WHAT'S THE SHOW?

Welcome to Clapham South tube station - the ramshackle home of the last five survivors of the climate crisis. Left with the ruins of generations before them, a dwindling oxygen supply leaves only enough breathable air for the remaining five people - and Ava is pregnant. As the oxygen falls, can they come together and stabilise their living situation, or must someone pay the ultimate price? The fate of the future now lies in the hands of the expectant parents, ex-socialite Kimmy, burnt out scientist Alden, and a very unwilling politician who harbours a secret that could change everything. With young voices on maximum volume, Stop the World, We’re Getting Off explores the population anxiety facing young people today, and reminds us of the hope that still lingers, just within our reach.

Thank you for supporting us. It means the world.
