Raising funds to bring STATIC LIVES to the Edinburgh Fringe. Join the journey!

by Luke Ward in London, Greater London, United Kingdom

We are Two Parachutes, and this summer, we’re taking our brand-new show, STATIC LIVES, to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival! We’ll be performing at theSpace @ Niddry Street from 11–19 August (no show on the 17th).

If you can’t make it to Edinburgh, don’t worry—we’re also performing two London previews on August 5th & 6th at the Camden Fringe! (Links to tickets down below!)

OUR EXPERIENCE

We have all been pursuing the arts since we were young, and now we’re ready to take it to the next level at Fringe this year!

At Fringe 2023, we performed 'When It Rains' at Greenside @ Nicholson Square, receiving great reviews (including a 4/5 from The Wee Review!). This time, we’re aiming even higher—bigger, bolder, and more impactful.

‘In the world of the play the future is bleak – but the next generation of theatre is clearly in safe hands’ - Richard Stamp, The Wee Review on 'When It Rains'.

OUR SHOW

What's it about?

Adam, a social media moderator, witnesses a man kill himself on a live stream. Haunted by his numb reaction, he spirals into a reckoning with his own desensitisation.

On a night out with his oldest friend, Ben, they confront brutal questions: What if we’re not the good people we desperately hoped we were? At what point does that begin to affect our relationships with each other?

This fearless new writing grapples with a defining modern insecurity: in a world where tragedy is constant and compassion fades, how do we hold on to our humanity?

Why does this show matter?

The play delves into desensitization, confronting a reality we often ignore but is deeply felt. It explores two opposing perspectives:

  • One that accepts apathy as inevitable
  • One that refuses to ignore it’s consequences

The play seeks to challenge our audience, forcing them to reflect:

  • Have you become desensitised?
  • How do you reconcile it?
  • And most importantly – can it be fought?

In an age where we scroll past suffering every day, STATIC LIVES confronts this issue head on.

OUR GOALS

Deliver a powerful, thought-provoking show that resonates with audiences and critics at the Edinburgh Fringe.
Prove that young artists can create impactful theatre, standing alongside established companies with passion, creativity, and originality.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

As you may know, putting on a show at the Fringe is expensive! We’re paying most of it ourselves, so we are looking for a little help to get us over the line.

We are hoping to raise £2000. This money will be spent:

  • 40% - Accommodation
  • 40% - Venue hire
  • 10% - Registering our show
  • 10% - Other (Travel, Contingency)

Any donation – big or small – makes a huge difference and is greatly appreciated!
