Support Smashing Cabinets on their journey to take their production of Dave Malloy's 'Ghost Quartet' to the Edinburgh Fringe!
Smashing Cabinets is a student company created in November 2021, and formed from a scattered cohort of musicians, actors, and those who have yet to make up their minds. We love thinking outside the box, using techniques from folk storytelling to breathe life into performance, and reading between the lines of pre-existing works to tell new stories.
Our critically acclaimed production of Dave Malloy’s Ghost Quartet will be performing at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe from the 16th – 20th August, at Venue 45 (@TheSpace). Below is our programme description:
‘Let me read you a story, let me read you a romance. I will read, you will listen, and this terrible night will pass…’
Join our four storytellers on a journey through multiple, disjointed lifetimes, as they explore the moments that tear us apart, and the bonds that keep us together. Written by Dave Malloy, reimagined by Smashing Cabinets Theatre, and accompanied by a live band, Ghost Quartet is a musical unlike any other – weaving an English folktale, a gothic mansion, and a New York Subway into an intricate tapestry of siblings, stars, and plenty of spirits.
As we are an independent company formed of students, we would be incredibly grateful for any support to help finance our journey – these funds will go towards ensuring our cast and crew have access to transport and accommodation, as well as allowing us to refresh our set, costumes, and props, many of which are recycled or repurposed in order to reduce our environmental footprint.
