Aim

Secreting is a series of nostalgic, cringe and laugh-inducing duologues exploring the corners of a teen house party into the early hours.

Starting its life as a single duologue at a scratch night in 2022, 'Secreting' is the debut project of Cambridge Masters student Maya Marie. 

Maya has since expanded the project into a series of five duologue episodes, exploring all corners of this chaotic, comedic and 'uncannily accurate' (The Tab) house party. Spotlighting intimate conversations that take place on the peripheries, we see characters shoot and miss miserably as they struggle to surpass the bubble boundaries of selfhood and connect with others. Creating 'nostalgic and honest ... excruciating and thrilling' (Varsity) drama out of the–seemingly–most basic of human interactions, nostalgia meets abjection and mundanity spills imperceptibly into danger.

Presented in its first iteration at the Corpus Playroom, Cambridge in May 2023, it received rave reviews from The Tab (4.5*) and Varsity (4*).

Following this success, we are now bringing the play to the Edinburgh Fringe from 14th-19th August - but we need some help funding our project (venue costs, registration fees, insurance, props etc)! An exciting mixture of comedy and drama, prioritising queer narratives and produced by an all-female prod team, we cannot wait to bring this to the stage once again in Edinburgh this August!
