To raise funds to help us pay for the costs of taking Second Chancers to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2023.
The Team
Maria Hemming and Lucy Barnfather met working as extras on the set of Sanditon and spent many hours at the tea table inventing comedy characters. The idea for Second Chancers was born and we have spent the last year creating a seriously fun show to take to the Edinburgh Fringe. We have a crack team of cast and crew including Steph Ammerlaan as director and stage manager, Marcus Hadley as Pux and Roz Gemma as the narrator.
The Ask
We have big dreams but struggling actor budgets! We are a small Bristol based, self-funded project and this is our first major production. We have managed to get a super supportive team around us who are all working for next to nothing but we still need help raising funds for our accommodation, venue hire, travel, marketing and making sure everyone gets fair wage for all the hours of hard work. We are dedicated to entertaining our audience and keeping independent, community based theatre alive. We believe the arts are inclusive and should be accessible to all regardless of your financial situation!
The Show
Second Chancers is a heart-felt, character comedy spoof of a trashy reality dating show for over 35s. The show focuses on Stella, a sales rep for Flippin’ Fantastic Flapjacks who loves a good brew, and the mad mix of people she meets who are also looking for love but being exploited by this failing production.
Second Chancers deals with the mine-field of dating in the modern world. It touches on gender inequalities, toxic masculinity, social media and serial killers...all to a backdrop of classic 90s bangers. This show is guaranteed to give you feel-good vibes!"
The Reward
We are eternally grateful for any support you can offer, whether that's coming to see a show, sharing our story or making a donation to our cause! We believe that funding should not be a barrier to showcasing our creative dreams.
We are also offering some awesome merch goodies to our most generous benefactors. Help give Second Chancers it's first chance at the Fringe!
