Aim

We are fundraising for Edinburgh Fringe 2026, we need £2500 to help pay for venue, marketing, accommodation, our food, set and more!

We’re the team behind Parasocial Activity — a darkly funny new play exploring obsession, loneliness, internet culture, and the stories we tell ourselves in order to feel loved. Led by emerging creatives from theatre and performance backgrounds, we’re passionate about making bold, contemporary work.

At the centre of the show is Jenny McGuire: a struggling Scottish actor in London who becomes convinced she is in a destined romance with James McAvoy after a chance encounter in a Glasgow Costa. Drawing comparisons to Bridget Jones’s Diary and You, the piece balances humour with psychological tension to examine how connection and obsession can become indistinguishable.

The funding we raise will allow us to properly realise the ambition of the production and support the artists making it. The money will go towards:

  • Fair pay for creatives and collaborators
  • Rehearsal and development space
  • Set, lighting, sound, and technical production costs
  • Marketing and audience outreach
  • Festival and venue costs

Most importantly, this funding would give us the freedom to take creative risks and bring an ambitious new voice to audiences at scale. Parasocial Activity is a story about the intensity of wanting to be seen — and we believe it has the potential to resonate widely with audiences navigating connection, loneliness, and identity in the digital age.

Performed and written by Offie nominated Briony Martha (Do Astronauts Masturbate in Space?) her brand new play explores themes of love in a world of technology, celebrity obsession (specifically James Mcavoy) and a deep love of egg mayo sandwiches.
