The Oscen Ensemble are a Glasgow based trio of Royal Conservatoire of Scotland alumni comprising of Emily Wishart (Soprano), Olivia Tomasovic (Oboe) and Mianoora Kosonen (Piano). The trio are inspired by the unique sound created by this combination of instruments and enjoy performing a wide range of repertoire from Baroque to modern day. As classically trained musicians, the Oscen Ensemble create diverse programmes which fuse their love of classical music with other genres such as folk and improvisation, often drawing inspiration from their respective cultural backgrounds. Furthermore, one of the ensemble’s main aims is to shine a spotlight on lesser-known repertoire and to champion underrepresented composers. As a result, the ‘Song for the Forgotten Rose’ programme exclusively features works by female composers from Clara Schumann and Amy Beach to living composers such as Jenni Brandon. At its heart, this programme unites love songs of varying kinds: romantic, maternal, faith, community and appreciation for the natural world.
