Aim

Disabled-led theatre company raising funds to debut Operation Market Garden, a WWII play about a Welsh paratrooper, to the EdFringe 2026

We are Inspired Theatre - a small company passionate about bringing untold stories to the stage. Our next project is Operation Market Garden, a verbatim theatre piece created from the diary of the writer’s great-grandfather, a Welsh paratrooper in the Second World War. His diary captures his experiences on the ground, from the Arnhem drop to being held as a prisoner of war for almost a year. It’s a perspective rarely represented on stage, and we want to share it with a wider audience at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2026.

The play was first performed in Cambridge in November, to sold out audiences.  The crowd told us how moved they were by the story and the immediacy of experiencing a soldier’s perspective. The production received a 4.5-star review, praised as “a story of resilience and remembrance, told from the ground up" (The Cambridge Tab). For this next step, we are keeping the cast and production team who brought the first version of the show to life, ensuring the same care, energy, and authenticity.

Our team is small but committed. I am the writer, a deaf-performer/writer/director shaping the piece from my great-grandfather’s words. Together, we’re bringing history to life in a way that’s intimate, moving, and exciting.

The money you donate will go directly to making this production happen at the Fringe. It will help cover venue hire, costume and set, marketing materials, and registration costs. Every contribution, big or small, helps us share this untold Welsh story with audiences in Edinburgh and beyond.

By supporting us, you’re helping keep a personal piece of history alive and giving audiences the chance to connect with a story that might otherwise be forgotten. Thank you for being part of this journey.
