What does a nose smell like?
Ohmygod sorry. Bless you.
Heads on Crooked are preparing to sneeze all over Edinburgh audiences this August with their brand spanking new show NOSEJOB. A riotous dark comedy that follows a sentient nose as he navigates the internet, fame, being a Fortune 500 CEO, and an untimely scandal - sniff sniff, bitch!
NOSEJOB explores the collision between the nose and his former owner Max, who wakes up one morning surprised to find his nose missing - and even more surprised to see his nose online masquerading as a trillionaire running Experienx: the biggest tech company in the world.
The show asks how we understand identity and integrity in a world where everything seems increasingly to be for sale. It explores the value of a flesh and bones body against the thousands of pixels that make up a digital image. It explores meritocracy, notoriety, and the thirst for power.
Above all, it's a show that screams:
Hey! that's not a man! That's a giant talking nose!
Performing at the Edinburgh Fringe is one of the highlights of any artist's career, but it comes at an increasingly unsustainable cost. The festival is the largest and most popular theatre event in the world, but mounting venue hire and rehearsal costs mean that shows conceived and developed here in Edinburgh (like ours) are featured less and less every year.
If you are able to donate to our show your payment will go towards covering our expenses, which include a venue hire fee of £4000, costume design and maker's fee of £600, fringe registration fee of £360, and a rehearsal space fee of £300 - a total of £5260.
This show is the culmination of a year's worth of work self-funded in very unsexy ways - pulling pints, serving customers, and shuttling pieces of set hundreds of miles across the country. We've poured countless hours/blood/sweat/tears/no other bodily fluids (we promise) into this project and we remain dedicated to producing a project worth going out of your way for - and to offering fair remuneration to the collaborators we hire.
Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated. There is no amount too small. Even £1 goes a long way toward breathing more life into NOSEJOB
NOSEJOB has been developed with in-kind support from Capital Theatres and the National Theatre of Scotland.
