A little about myself :)
I am a multi-award winning actor and writer with strong ties to Stockbridge, Edinburgh and Dublin, Ireland. I trained at the prestigious Ecole Jacques Lecoq in Paris and went on to establish my very own theatre company, Nth Degree Productions. We are a multi-award winning company and this will be our second time bringing work to the Edinburgh Fringe. We will be at the beautiful Vault Theatre at Paradise Green for the full Edinburgh festival run with our new show, Mr Bergmann of Deadman's Point, which is based on the extraordinary true story of Ireland's most famous unidentified man, the so-called Peter Bergmann. It is one of the great global mysteries of our time.
The Project
Mr Bergmann of Deadman's Point is a new critically acclaimed solo show. It uses magic, half mask, physical theatre and traditional address to tell this most fascinating true story. It is based on the story of Peter Bergmann, who arrived in Ireland back in 2009, from where? Nobody knows. He spent three days in Sligo town, and while there he gave false names, addresses and discarded his every possession without being caught on cctv. He was later found deceased on a lonely shoreline, cause of death unknown! Even after huge efforts by German, Austrian, French, British and Irish police for 17 years, to this day he has never been identified.
The play - The journey started for us 18 months ago when we started developing it. We were very interested in legacy, and what it means to people. Why would this so-called Peter Bergmann wish to leave not a trace behind and why do some of us obsess about what we leave behind, whether it be possessions, relationships or reputation? Then we set out with the How! We explored half ask and silence and gesture and quickly found Mr. Bergmann. Then we investigated the juxtaposition of him and his situation. We developed a fictional embalmer who befriends Mr. Bergmann and then the sparks flew. It's a beautiful piece of work that delves into so many forms. It's funny, moving and shocking. We are so proud of it and have been on the road touring it for 11 months now with some incredible acclaim. We really want to bring this show to Edinburgh in the most advanced technical state that we can. The show deserves this. We also want to feed, water and pay our fantastic team that will be over there. We have raised a lot of money ourselves, 65%, and we are hoping to raise the rest through various sources. It is an enormous undertaking with massive costs and we would love your support to help with the operating costs of the show daily and the very big marketing bills that are essential over there. Please find more info about us below and thank you for reading and for your support.
