I want to produce the best solo show I can - both by working on my current piece "Vanilla" - but also on a brand new work.
Hi!
I'm a professional stand up and BAFTA nom'ed TV writer.
My current solo show "Vanilla" has had a fantastic reception and I want to keep on performing it - via Zoom or wherever lets me!
I also want to develop a brand new show.
On lockdown I lost 50% of my income, and also the opportunity to try out and develop new material in front of an audience. Usually I would be earning at the venues that have booked me to perform my show - but they are now all closed. Trying new material online earns me so far between £4 and £12!
A show is a time consuming thing - I also hire a director to perfect it, someone to help me mute and unmute people on twitter, a photographer and poster designer, advertising. I also really want to start hiring BSL interpreters so i can open up my work. A day writing is a day I can't be out at work, an evening performing is an evening I need childcare for the little sould that inspire my best work. I want to pay the people I hire their due.
It also looks like venues will be closed for a long time, and when they open it is easier for me to hire a space than to be booked on a bill with lots of other comics- again this costs.
Please be assured I am very careful with money and every penny will be spent where it's needed. Honest...
