The Little Iceberg, told through original song & music, seeks to highlight the importance of love & connection in a post Covid society.

I started my journey into songwriting during covid when I set myself the challenge to write a song everyday, depicting life as it was during those times. I wrote over 250 songs during the pandemic and was subsequently named one of TES' (Times Educational Supplement) top ten people of the year for services to education and cheering people up through an incredibly difficult time.
I performed at charity events online and in person, showcasing songs that told the more amusing side of lockdown. I turned these songs into a comedy show 'You're on mute' which I took to the Fringe last year.
This wasn't the only show I took to the Fringe last year. With an incredibly talented cast and having premiered the show in Glasgow, I took my other composition The Little Iceberg Musical to Edinburgh in Aug 2022.
I was inspired to write this musical having seen the beautiful cover illustration of the book and being captivated by the story which tells of the importance of kindness, compassion and connection in our lives. The music and lyrics came easily to me and within a week, I had managed to complete my first ever musical. I am part of the team behind Anam Alba Creative, together with my sister and brother-in-law, and we are interested in how ideas about connection, attachment and regulation can be expressed through art and musical theatre. With great support from graduates of Glasgow Acting Academy, in 2022 we were able to take The Little Iceberg Musical to communities, prisons, colleges and to make our debut at 2022 Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Our aim in 2023 is to return to the Fringe, this time for two weeks, as we received superb audience feedback and received 4 star reviews from two sources. The funding we are hoping to raise will enable us to send actors for their Fringe debut, and give more audiences a chance to discover this beautiful, metaphorical story told through original music and fantastic acting from the graduates of Glasgow Acting Academy.
Until now, I have self-funded every aspect of The Little Iceberg Musical because I fully believe in the transformative power of music and theatre and also believe that everyone should be able to enjoy theatre productions such as this. The funding for which we are seeking will enable us to cover the enormous costs of venue hire, registration fees, transport , set design and publicity materials. We are so keen for as many people as possible to see this lovely, moving piece of musical theatre, that we need some assistance. In addition, we hope to be able to sponsor as many seats as we can so that this immersive theatre piece can be enjoyed by as many families as possible at no cost to them, if possible.
