We want to take Intrusive to the Edinburgh Fringe festival! It’s a powerful show that needs to be seen by as many people as possible.
The Show -
Intrusive is a raw, urgent piece of modern theatre that confronts the realities many young people live with in silence including trauma, intrusive thoughts, mental illness, sexual violence and suicide. It is not a comfortable show, but it is a necessary one. When we staged a short run in Liverpool, audiences didn’t just applaud, they stayed, talked, cried, and shared their own stories. That response confirmed what we already felt in the rehearsal room, that this is a show that needs to be seen, heard, and shared beyond a single venue.

The Creative Team
Abigayle Tyrer and Louis Cashin-Harris co wrote the show together. Phil Halfpenny is the director of the show. Together they managed to put on the show for 3 nights at a fringe venue in Liverpool and received standing ovations and tears from the crowd.
Why This Show Matters
Intrusive is a powerful show and we need to share it with the world, we think Edinburgh fringe is the best place to do this however to make this happen we need some help.
Themes this show explores include PTSD, Sexual Violence, Various Mental Health Struggles and Suicide. This is so important because so many young people are affected by these issues and they are not talked about or discussed enough, even today.
Phil Halfpenny (The Director) says “As a 30+ year old I have experienced multiple traumatic events in my life, this show helped me process and manage some emotions I was keeping repressed over the suicide of a friend from over 15 years ago - that alone made the entire process worthwhile. This is the power of theatre”.
The Cast features a diverse group of young, exceptional actors some of whom have worked for more than half a year to bring this show to light.
Why we need you
Taking Intrusive to the Edinburgh Fringe is our opportunity to give this story a wider life and to place it in front of audiences who are actively seeking challenging, socially relevant theatre. However, bringing a show to Edinburgh is expensive, and for an independent group of actors and producers, it simply isn’t possible without support. The funds raised through this crowdfunder will go directly towards essential costs including accommodation, transport, registration fees, and the practical expenses of performing the show. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps us take one step closer to sharing this work with the people who may need it most. If you believe in the power of theatre to start conversations, create connection, and make people feel less alone, we would be incredibly grateful for your support.
