To stir theatre audiences at a deep emotional level, so that they leave feeling more connected to themselves and their fellow humans.
Immigrant and female-led Response Theatre Company will change the way you perceive and access dance theatre. We are here to tell soulful stories that belong as much to you as they do to us. Using the power of music, dancing and 90s pop culture, we welcome you to join the party you always wished you were invited to.

I Made You A Mixtape throws you straight into the heart of a 90s college dorm hangout, complete with lava lamps, folding tables, plastic cups, old-school camcorders, and the greatest hits of the decade. Nine girls arrive for one last night together before their lives change forever. What starts as a carefree evening of music and dancing unfolds into a deeply human collage of friendship, nostalgia, heartbreak, and joy. With each track they play, a new world opens: improvised music videos, chaotic games, secret confessions, and the kind of laughter that makes your chest ache.

Created using our original Response Movement Method, a hybrid of Meisner acting and movement theatre, the performers treat the music as their scene partner and the choreography as their text, allowing the story to emerge in real time. This has never been done before, and no two performances are the same. What you witness is truthfully lived, not acted. Warm, hilarious, tender, and wildly nostalgic, 'I Made You A Mixtape' is a love letter to growing up, growing apart, and the friends who made us who we are.
We are breaking down the barriers of what a traditional dance theatre production can be, to bring movement and dance theatre to new audiences and connect people through popular music. The feedback from our previews last year in April speak for themselves!
"I cried, I laughed, I wanted to join in, I cried because I couldn't join in."
“LOVED IT. It's so rare to see such abandon and total commitment throughout. It really enhanced the dancing."
"This is what the world needs!"
“Overwhelmed with emotion, infected with inspiration, and really just WOW! What a beautiful experience."
"Very impactful and raw."

This year, following our successful experiment of translating the Response Movement Method into performance, we are presenting our first official company production, 'I Made You A Mixtape'! We are asking for your help to realise our ambitious 2026 programme. This particular performance will be brought to you in a thrust setting, giving the audience a more immersive experience. We are so excited to be partnering with The Cockpit for our London run and theSpaceUK for our Edinburgh Fringe debut!

We have received funding from Canada Council for the Arts to help support our Canadian cast and creatives (including the boss woman herself, Christie Lee Manning) during our Edinburgh Fringe run. We have also been hard at work writing grant applications for several other funding platforms, including Arts Council England. The process is very competitive and putting on a show is very expensive. However, this is not a ‘one-and-done’ checkpoint for us. This is the beginning of a very long future for Response Theatre Company, and the success of this production will no doubt make or break the future of our work and the ability for us to further invest in both the theatre community and our dedicated audience members.
