We are Brooklyn Rep, a sensational theatre company that presents new theatrical happenings in communal spaces (mostly gay bar basements) from international off-off artists, marrying the vibrancy of queer nightlife with structurally thrilling new plays.
All The Fraudulent Horse Girls is a one-act comedy-melodrama written by Sydney-based cutie Michael Louis Kennedy.
Our saga of loser-on-loser violence follows 11-year-old Audrey, who believes she is telepathically linked to all the other horse girls in the world. The show is very much built from the people and space that makes East London queer nightlife so magical, with its brightest stars lending their unique talents to actor-musicianship, lip-syncing, and raw monologues.
Our colt-hit production will gallop to Pleasance Dome Edinburgh after 3 sold-out seasons at East London drag institution, The Glory.
We're putting on an ambitious tour, gathering 5 multitalented performers along with our designer/stage manager and director/producer. Some might say we've bitten off more apple than we could chew, but our horse faces are mighty! As are our dreams of uniting the neurodiverse, the odd, the queer, and the adventurous with our universal and thrillingly told tale. We hope to use this fundraiser to cover travel and lodging costs and make our budget more stable. Equally, we hope for a guarantee that everyone is paid a living wage to share this DELIGHT of a play for a month with hopes to elevate this text, production, and performers to Horse Girl Valhalla. All that being said, we would adore any and all donations to make our dreams come true.
