To raise funds to help pay actors fees and marketing costs for my show, Beg For Me, at this year's Edinburgh Fringe 2022.

Crowdfunder Aim:

My play 'Beg For Me,' is being put on at this year's Edinburgh Fringe 2022 at McEwan Hall, Underbelly! Due to issues outside of anyone's control, my production company can no longer produce my show, meaning I am self-producing the entire thing. This comes with a whole host of responsibilities including (but certainly not limited to!) overseeing the entire production, organising marketing and publicity campaigns, running rehearsals and auditioning actors - and most importantly, stumping up the money to pay for it all! I, of course have applied for external funding and I am also self-funding as much as I can but as everyone knows, paying professionals appropriately and fairly can be very expensive (and rightfully so) so I'm looking for any donations to help the show on its way. I would be very grateful for any donations, big or small to help get this important show performed at the Fringe in its very best form. Please see information about the show below and myself below: 

Rosa Maria Alexander - Author, Director and Producer of Beg For Me:

Rosa Maria Alexander is a Cypriot/Scottish queer Playwright, Book Writer/Lyricist, Producer & Writer originally from Scotland who writes and produces dark, feminist, socio-political theatre works usually based on historic or current events. 

Rosa trained at Blackpool School of Creative Arts 2016-2019, and then went on to complete a Masters Degree in Musical Theatre At Goldsmith’s University of London 2019 - 2020. Her previous written works include ‘You’ll Be Okay,’ (Musical, Goldsmiths) ‘Cinema of A Life Unrequited,’ (One Woman Show, Black Box Theatre, Actor/ Muso Festival), ‘La Petite Morte,’ (Duologue, Clarendon), ‘Howl,’ (Devised Choreographic Piece, Black Box Theatre, Directorial Showcase) and Beg For Me (Play, Pleasance Islington & Camden People’s Theatre, SPRINT Festival)

Beg For Me:

6.11.2021: A day replayed on repeat in R3alAm3rican99’s head. In this riveting new solo play by Rosa Maria Alexander, follow how one young man's radicalisation leads him to the steps of the US Capitol.

Beg For Me explores the implosive intersection of violent misogyny, the alt-right and digital extremism. Nearly one year on from the storming of the Capitol, the US has experienced a peaceful transfer of power - but have the forces that brought thousands to protest the results of the election changed?

Beg For Me is a one-act, two-player show around 60 minutes in length, exploring the dangerous nature of 21st-century media and the way in which it exploits and radicalises vulnerable young men often leading to alt-right views and negative attitudes towards POC, women, and the LGBT community. With the rise of alt-right activists taking more of a centralised role in the media through outlets such as YouTube, Fox News, Twitter, and Reddit, more than ever are disenfranchised, young, working-class men and women susceptible to their bait - taking all the rage, isolation and discrimination they feel daily and focusing their upset towards minority groups instead of banding together to help one another and defeating the real enemies at play. No other form of performance terrorism has encapsulated the ‘fake news’ and modern al-right indoctrination the world faces than the attack on the US Capitol building on 6 January 2021 and consequently, it is the crucible of the show and the plot in which we dangle from. 

Beg For Me also explores the highly nuanced modern day ‘sex positivity’ movement and the role media plays in normalising ‘rough’ sex – often with kink becoming the baseline for new sexual encounters – and whether this trend of more intense intercourse is acting as a cover-up for acts of violence against women.

Beg For Me was originally written and performed as part of Mountview's Catalyst Festival in August 2021, had a successful two-day run at the Pleasance Theatre, London, in November 2021 and was performed as part of Camden People’s Theatre’s Sprint Festival.
