I am excited to bring 'The Weight of Shadow', a physical theatre show to the fantastic stage that is the Edinburgh Fringe, this August
I am thrilled to announce this incredible opportunity to perform my new show at Edinburgh Fringe Festival , in August 2024 . For 14 years, I've poured my heart into mastering aerial acrobatics, dance, visual arts, and music across global stages—from Russia to Japan and throughout Europe. Working as choreographer for the National Germany Theatre, training opportunities with DV8, performing all around the world and more, have shaped my journey, including memorable tours , and partnerships with 'Serious Clowns' , 'Fidget Feet', 'Flabbergast Theatre' and more
Collaborations with photo/videographer Nick Knight led to impactful contributions for his exhibition ' A Beautiful Darkness' and advertisements for Beats by Dre. Performances at TEDx, Babel Fest, and the Platonov Performance Festival immersed audiences in nuanced movement explorations.
Now, I'm gearing up to present my solo show 'The Weight of Shadow' at Edinburgh Fringe—an exploration of mental health,self-worth, and body image interwoven through aerial, dance, mime, and physical storytelling.
About 'The Weight of Shadow' :
'Based symbolically on true events, ‘The Weight of Shadow’ acts as a visual representation of a rapidly deteriorating state of mental illness. It is inspired by Sasha’s partner and collaborator Ciana Fitzgerald, a fine arts painter and experimental film maker, and depicted through enigmatic physical languages including dance, mime, and aerial acrobatics. The show portrays 24 hours in the melancholic world of a psychiatric patient desperately trying to hold onto their tenuous grip on reality.'
Crafting my own performances has been my anchor in this challenging journey as a performer and an individual aiming to carve a niche in this demanding industry. Driven by a passion for physical storytelling and an eagerness to delve into crucial topics, I've poured my heart into creating "The Weight of Shadow" .
This project is a portrayal of the struggles we all face with self-worth, mental health, and body image. My aim is to create an experience that not only captivates audiences but also sparks thoughtful reflection.
