FRUIT BOWL THEATRE is a new queer-led theatre collective bringing TWO new shows to the Edinburgh Fringe 2024, and we need your help!
Hello! We are Fruit Bowl Theatre, an emerging student-run theatre collective in Manchester. We are a queer female-led company, and our passions lie in making theatre that champions accessibility and representation. We need your help to go to the Edinburgh Fringe this summer!
(We had to close our last Crowdfunder early to cover essential venue payments, and have started up a second one with the aim of covering costs like further Venue costs, Advertising, Insurance and Accommodation. It would be a HUGE help if you could share or donate and help us get to the fringe in a good financial position :) Thank you all for the support and we are so excited to bring our shows to the fringe!)
Fruit Bowl Theatre formed last year, after we created the queer Jukebox Musical Comedy Losing the Plot! We decided to take this to the Edinburgh Fringe, and had such a rewarding and successful run! Binge fringe responded to our show, saying "Fruit Bowl have done a great job in their queer representation, validating and affirming the queer sexualities of some of the characters with ease.". It was an absolutely incredible experience, in which we represented young, queer voices and brought some much-needed joy to Edinburgh!
In fact, we loved it so much that this year we are bringing TWO SHOWS to the Fringe.
The first is: Baby Steps by Alfie Pullum. A gorgeous piece of new writing about the self-destruction of a friendship that ensues after a life-changing loss. This show was performed at the UMDS autumn fringe festival and garnered many teary-eyed responses, with many people being touched by the personal and hopeful nature of the piece. We are so excited for Fringe audiences to experience this play - as it is truly a testament to new writing, and will hopefully open up vital conversations surrounding friendship and grief.
The second is: WHO GAVE YOU THE MIC? A new sketch comedy show, which shamelessly satirises masculinity and celebrates queerness. This show will have its debut at the Fringe, and we are thrilled to bring some much-needed representation to the landscape of sketch comedy! Queerness is something integral to Fruit Bowl, and we want to normalise diverse perspectives through comedy, and bring a little love and light to the Fringe! :)
Thank you so much for your support, it would mean the world to us if you could donate or share!
