We are crowdfunding to raise money to cover the costs of taking our independent production 'A Costume Drama' to Edinburgh Fringe 2026.

About the play:

With the 2026 Mascot Grand National rapidly approaching and her shell-suit sporting Dad indisposed, reluctant Ella must fill Eddie the Egg’s incredibly big boots in this heart-warming, hilarious story about one extraordinary race for glory. Written and performed by Best Solo Performance nominee (The Stagey Place) Claudia Fielding, with direction and music by Anna Rastelli, the pair returns to Edinburgh debuting this wacky comedy about family tradition, legacy, and the love of The Game. ‘Fielding is the oddball left field droll hero we all need in our lives.’ (FringeReview) ‘a writer-performer to keep tabs on’ (Everything Theatre)

A bit about us:

In 2024, the duo made their professional debut with Claudia's original solo show Never Get to Heaven in an Empty Shell. Despite having never attended Fringe before, they performed the full run in Bunker Three at Pleasance Courtyard. Whilst the show was not a sell-out, we continually had large audiences from a broad range of backgrounds and ages. We garnered several four star reviews, from Ed Fest Magazine, FringeReview, Fringesider and British Theatre Guide, which aided us on our journey to the London transfer at the Glitch, which after some tweaking, gained two more four star reviews from Everything Theatre and LondonTheatre1. The show was subsequently shortlisted for the BBC Writers Open Call (top 1% of applicants) and resulted in Claudia being shortlisted for the BBC Writers Voices Programme, as well as a nomination for Best Solo Performance by The Stagey Place. 

Why we need your help:

Whilst the pair are excited to continue their professional relationship at Edinburgh Fringe 2026, they are still working and performing as independent and unfunded creatives. Overall, the proposed budget for A Costume Drama is around £7,000, with larger costs such as venue deposit and PR representation. Whilst we know this may be impossible to crowdfund, anything you can donate in order to progress our future as creatives would be greatly appreciated. As we continue to work in hospitality full time, writing and rehearsing has taken a back seat. We would love to be able to relieve some of the financial pressure in order to focus more on creating the best show we possibly can.
