Help them get started
Your support makes a difference
Help us take Hater to Edinburgh Fringe 2026—a comically dark three-hander about abuse, anger issues, self-hatred, and shame.
Hater is making its Edinburgh premiere at Gilded Balloon this August!
After an Etties Awards Best Drama nomination, Hater is making its Edinburgh premiere at Gilded Balloon this August. Written and part performed by Gawa Leung, this ‘witty and high-energy blitz of wrath and disenfranchisement’ (A Young(ish) Perspective) will be directed by Megan Brewer.
Hater is a story about complex trauma and how self-hatred gets in the way of solidarity and sisterhood. We are hoping this story will shed light on the complexities of survival and recovery from complex trauma, and hopefully take the shame out of seeking help, whether you are struggling with anger issues or addiction.
‘[A] stand-out exploration of rage, identity, and the digital age….masterfully balanced industry satire with deeply moving drama’ ✭✭✭✭ Everything Theatre.
‘Hater is an inventive, emotionally incisive, and culturally sharp piece—rare in its ability to blend humour, trauma, and immigrant politics with daring imagination.’ ✭✭✭✭ The Spy in the Stalls.
Every bit of support goes a long way in making this show a reality as it is currently wholly self-funded. It would help us pay for venue facility fee (£1,542.00), rehearsal space (£1200), accommodation for cast and crew at discounted uni halls rooms with shared bathrooms (£4500), lighting and sound tech (£1200), marketing and outreach (£550), insurance (£599), transport to Edinburgh (£500), and props (£100).
We don't want you to shell out without getting something in return so please scroll down and take a look at some of the tasty rewards we have for you!
