We're four, poor, Take That connoisseurs trying to bring a show to Edinburgh. It's well expensive innit. We just want to bring joy. Simples.
Look, we clearly don't take ourselves too seriously. But if you're here, let's talk facts and figures:
We formed as a group at drama school (and are still financially recovering from that decision).
March 2025 saw our debut performance of 'Fool's Gold'. It went pretty well. So we did it again.
October 2025 - Grimfest - they couldn't get enough. An award nomination flew in (Best Comedy in a Fringe Venue).
August 2026 - they say it's gonna take Edinburgh by storm. We're hoping for better weather, but mainly that the shows go well.
The Show:
'Fool's Gold' is an essential, dark comedy about the often underrepresented group - graverobbers. It's got everything - ultra-marathon runners, ghosts and Take That? Here's our logline:
'David Baker - professional "covert excavator" (grave-robber) - is on his last job. He's expecting his trusty partner, Johnny, but instead enters a buffoon wearing a Hawaiian shirt, who seems to know everything about the plan...and David himself. One more dig and David can leave the game, but has he already dug his own grave?'
It balances our vision of theatre as pure entertainment - with a mix of the extremely silly and the extraordinarily dark; huge laughs with a complex and rewarding mystery. We're not trying to say anything. That may be controversial nowadays, however we simply want people to have a good time. To watch a piece of fiction and experience a range of emotions and be happy when they leave - that's our aim. It's that simple.
The Vision:
Edinburgh. Success. Profit. Fame. Glory.
In all seriousness, everyone knows how expensive Edinburgh is nowadays. But we've made it harder for ourselves and booked the final slot of the night. We did this to maintain the creative integrity of the piece (chews on pipe) as the play itself is set at the dead of night.
We thought this could be really unique for the show, however it might just be that no-one comes.
The Cost:
We're going to have lots of costs at Edinburgh, including personal ones like accommodation and food. We're not raising money for these as we'd be asking for a small fortune. These are purely costs to get the play in motion. So here's the breakdown (we promise this is conservative too - it's just this much):
Venue Fees - £2400!
Edinburgh Fringe Registration Fee - £295
Marketing Fees - £100
Tech Fees - £750
Miscellaneous - £55
Total - £3600.
This is a stupid amount of money we know. But anything to alleviate this would be so greatly appreciated.
