Aim

Help us get to Edinburgh Fringe 2021!

Hi! We're PaperDolls! Thanks for showing your support by following us this far.

We're a small, up and coming South West based theatre company, who had the dream of making it to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2020, with our original, hard hitting play 'The Thief of Energy', written by Harriet Godfrey, and directed by Chloe Sharland (our amazing co-founders!). Creating pieces with social and cultural importance is at the forefront of our performance choices. Unfortunately, just as we were gearing up for all of our fundraising events, and main social media drive, the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic hit us all. This scuppered our plans, and left us feeling a bit blue.

So it was a hive of excitement when we were contacted a few weeks ago by theSpaceUK to participate in an online version of the Fringe Festival. How modern! With such short notice, and the obvious rehearsal complications due to social distancing, we were unable to bring our much loved 'The Thief of Energy' script to life in this instance - but we are so pleased to announce our brand new short play 'The Writings on the Wallpaper', written by our lovely Chloe. It's basically been a whirlwind of scriptwriting, editing, Zoom filming (we all love a good Zoom these days, ey), and online promotion and organisation since then!

As this online Fringe event is free to access and enjoy, we thought that it's a great place to start garnering some support and extra cash to help us on our way to staging 'The Thief of Energy' at Edinburgh Fringe 2021, next year! After our initial look into all of the fees and expenses involved in taking a whole show and theatre company to Edinburgh, our plan now is to start fundraising however, and whenever, we can during these current times. We're super aware that money has been tight over this period of uncertainty, but we would be over the moon with any donation, however big or small, to help us on our journey.

Much love,

PaperDolls x
