Please help 'CRUSH' a debut British-Somali rom-com by Hadsan Mohamud get to the Edinburgh Fringe this summer!!!
'CRUSH' AT THE FRINGE
We've been offered a prime time slot at Underbelly this August. Wild!!!
But we need your help to get there!
In a short space of time, Crush has grown so quickly. We sold out our debut Somali Week Festival in October and Soho Theatre run last month. With more than 140 people on the waiting list!! (CRAZY)
The love has been real and we're not ready for it to stop.
Now we're taking it to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
About CRUSH:
Crush is a Somali-British rom-com about two teenagers who meet at an eating disorder clinic. Through awkward chats, and real conversations they bond over being Black, Muslim, their experiences and shared love for creativity.
It's a tender and funny love story about two young people figuring things out.
Why this story matters:
Eating disorders and mental health remain deeply stigmatised in many communities, especially within Somali and Muslim spaces.
We don't often get to see young Black Muslim Characters be soft. Or vulnerable. Or in love.
Crush makes space for that.
It allows us to feel seen.
Why the fringe?
The Edinburgh fringe is the biggest arts festival in the world. It's where new writing can get discovered and shows can really take off.
For CRUSH, this is an opportunity to move from a sold-out London show to a story with global reach.
Taking CRUSH to the Edinburgh Fringe means:
Crush has been longlisted for the Tony Craze Award and It has also been named by The Rendition as one of the Black theatre shows to watch in 2026. The play has been featured in British Vogue, Amaliah and Hyphen!
It's clear the story is ready for a bigger stage.
Why we need your help?
Fringe is expensive and because of funding restrictions, we cannot apply for Arts Council Support this time. So we are turning to our community, family, friends and everyone who believes in the show.
Crush cannot end at Soho (even though that was pretty cool) we need to keep the momentum going.
