Aim

To help fund a 2023 Ed fringe run & free community tour of An Afternoon with the Ladies of the Cliff Richard Fan Club Sutton Coldfield 1995!

Hi,

My name is Paul and I’m the writer of “AN AFTERNOON WITH THE LADIES OF THE CLIFF RICHARD FAN CLUB, SUTTON COLDFIELD, 1995”!

The play is a brand new, semi-interactive, comedy play set in the world of the Cliff Richard super fan that we are taking to this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival (with a great lunchtime slot at the prestigious Assembly Rooms venue!) as well as to local community centres and hospices in the Sutton/Birmingham area!

Based on real life events, this hilarious hour-long play follows Lynette, Margaret, Anita, Sarah, Barbara, and, when she shows up, Pat, as they welcome you to a surprising taster session with the Sutton Coldfield branch of the Cliff fan club back in the year (cue wobbly we’re-gong-back-in-time visuals!) 1995!

We hopes to bring opportunities for you, our audiences, to be entertained with a fantastic show (wherever you are in the world! Oh yes!  See the incentives page!), and also to give opportunities to actresses “of experience”, for whom multi-layered, great roles are often scarce.

With a cast of 6 and a creative team of 4 (including West End director, Clemmie Reynolds), the costs to put on such a venture are, inevitably, very high.  We want to ensure that everyone who gives their talent and craft to our show is rewarded properly, thus the existence of this crowdfunder.

Costs we face to do this include:

* Venue hire

* Registration fees

* Advertising costs

* Actresses wages

* Travel

* Set, Costume, Lights, & Sound

* Accommodation in Edinburgh & Birmingham

* Vital Marketing Tools inc posters, flyers, and advertising.

Not only will the money raised contribute towards these creative costs, including the eye watering costs of accommodating the team at the fringe, but it will also help us take the play, after the Edinburgh run, FOR FREE to communities for whom art and culture may not be readily and economically accessible.  The idea for this follows on from the success we had with our first play, the thriller Skin in the Game, which we toured for free to community centres in Birmingham and Greenwich in 2019.

After the isolation of the pandemic and lockdowns, we are so excited to bring an hour of escapism, laughter, joy, and a few tears, to audiences up and down the U.K.

Any assistance you can offer to help us do this, either financial or via a much appreciated share of this Crowdfunder page or our video, would be beyond appreciated!

Alternatively, if you know of a company or business who might like to sponsor the show, do pass on this page to them.

Thanks in advance!  We hope to see you in person (or digitally!) at our show this summer!

Huge love,

Paul, & all the team at Opportunity Productions
