Get Miss Clementine to the ball (to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival)
My name is Rosalie and I’m so unbelievably excited to be taking my gorgeous character comedy show, Clementine, to Underbelly at the Edinburgh Fringe this year.
Whether you’ve had the (mis)fortune of seeing my hour of madness in person or seen some of my relentless social media posts, you’ll know that I’ve been on a bit of a mission over the past year.
I conjured this deranged character in lockdown, while slowly but surely losing my mind in the rolling hills of Wiltshire. Like a lot of other people, I lost a lot of self-belief and confidence during those long pandemic months. After a series of mysteriously unfortunate events in 2021 (I’m convinced I was cursed), I decided to throw my bonnet in the ring, write a comedy show and, with the help of some ridiculously talented humans, bring her to life. When you're feeling so vulnerable it seems counterintuitive to jump onto a stage and try, desperately, to make a group of strangers laugh. But that's exactly what I set out to do.
And comedy is a famously easy and lucrative industry, so the past year has been a breeze.

Narcissist to some, icon to millions, Miss Lady Clementine has been winning hearts and minds across the British Isles for over 400 hundred years (approx).

Lady Clementine has until her 27th Birthday to find The One.
When her latest beau goes missing, she embarks on a hilariously unhinged quest to solve the mystery of her ill-fortune. But with neither sense nor sensibility, will our romantic heroine find love in time? Set roughly “in the past'', this is a story about sickly sisters, self-love - and Sylvanian Families. Bonnets at the ready, Ladies, for the debut character comedy show of the (Scorpio) season.

It’s part myth, part memoir and part coming-of-age Netflix original series. (Netflix just doesn't know it yet). Given that her dressmaker is a 2 inch noble émigré escaping the French Revolution and her 67 sisters are Sylvanian Families, historical accuracy will be the least of any reviewer's concerns.
There aren’t really any hidden meanings or messages in the show, it’s mostly just a superficially insane hour of fun. Having said that, I like to think of this show as a very elaborate love letter to anyone and everyone trying to navigate this tricky world as a woman - which, sadly, hasn’t radically changed all that much. It doesn’t make any grand gestures or political points, but it's a fun hour-long reminder to take life, especially romantic relationships, a little less seriously.
I’m also a bit of a history nerd so this show is basically just an excuse to cosplay as a glamorous lady of leisure.
I performed the first version of show at the Hen and Chickens Theatre in London last year and I’ve been developing it ever since. I've been lucky enough to perfect and refine the show by performing Clementine at comedy festivals and stages across the UK. Last year I took the show to:
This year this show is back, better and madder than ever. I kicked off this year at Leicester Comedy Festival, sold-out my run at VAULT Festival, took Brighton Fringe 2023 by storm. This summer I will be heading up to Buxton Fringe before heading to the Edinburgh Fringe for Clementine's season finale.

The Edinburgh Fringe is a brilliant platform for artists and performers to showcase their work, network with other creatives and get the industry exposure they need to kickstart a careers in an infamously competitive industry. It's a fantastic opportunity but, unfortunately, it doesn't come cheap.
With your support, I'll be able to:
The show has, thankfully, received some really wonderful reviews so far!
***** Voice Magazine ‘Cheeks hurt from laughing’
***** Fringe Biscuit ‘Bridgerton meets Gen Z Jane Austen’
***** Rach Reviewed ‘A comedy star in the making’
****Reviews Hub - ‘A rococo stream of nonsense’
If you made it this far, thank you! There are so many urgent, worthy and brilliant causes out there so I can't tell you how immensely grateful I am for any support and for all the lovely people who have come to enjoy the show so far!
If you do happen upon the show this summer, I’d say keep your hands and feet in at all times, sit back and enjoy the ride.
