Aim

I'm raising funds to support taking my one-woman show to the 2026 Edinburgh Fringe.

When I quit my Musical Theatre BFA degree during my first semester in favour of a degree in history and museums (you know, where the real money is) I certainly didn't expect to be writing this nearly 10 years to the day of making that decision.

But have you ever looked at the beautiful life you've built for yourself and gone 'this is so great - but I really could do with an extra dash of whimsy' ? Yeah, same here. I'm now 28 with a good, stable job in marketing, a husband, a house, and a cat and dog - and an intense need to do something for the plot.

Bringing a show to the Edinburgh Fringe has been a pipe dream of mine for many years. One of those bucket list items you like to imagine but without the tangible means of actually making it happen. But when inspiration struck this past summer and I finally had an idea for my show I quickly turned my dream into a reality.

My self-written, self-directed show, Carys Jeffrey Evans will be the UK's Next Eurovision Entry (very much a working title, please don't sue me BBC or EBU!)will be performed at one of my favourite Ed Fringe venues to visit as an audience member: theSpace @ Surgeon's Hall between 7-22 August 2026. I'm writing the show myself, I'm directing it myself, and I'll also be my own marketing team and my own moral support. It's guaranteed to be a musical comedy extravagnaza - or at the very least a bit of a laugh for all involved.

Following your dreams isn't cheap though, so whilst I'm hoping to make back some of my expenses via ticket sales to my show, donated funds will also help cover things like:

  • my venue hire fee
  • travel to and from Edinburgh in August, plus my daily commute from my accommodation (outside of the city)
  • advertising costs for my show (those flyers don't print themselves!)
  • insurance costs (the main reason my show will be lacking in pyrotechnics, tbh)
  • Fringe society registration (so my show is featured within the official lineup and programme)
  • technician support for my show (so the audience can see and hear me)
  • any costuming or props
  • music licensing (so I can sing some other people's songs in my show - pretty critical given my source material, eh?)
  • probably lots of other things I haven't even considered yet in putting all of this together

In all seriousness, I am so immensely excited to make this dream come true, and anything you could give to help support will be appreciated more than you could ever know. Thank you so much <3
