Aim

The goal is to help cover the costs of taking two shows to Edinburgh Fringe, including venue fee and accomodation

The writer of Broken Bard has no idea what they are doing. After losing their “proper” desk job nearly ten years ago, they’ve been struggling to claw into their beloved world of stage performance while maintaining a supportive online audience of daft YouTube videos.

As a storytelling comedian, Louis dares to tread uncharted territory; “Broken Bard” is an emotional journey between hilarity, rhythm and reflection – from the first musical prodding of their childhood right up to today’s warbling, Louis invites the audience to an intimate story of confessional humour with original songs that make the darkest topics bright.

"Manboy" is a daft but heartfelt observance of gender binaries and living in a world not made for you, told by a CPTSD sufferer in their late 30s who has finally got round to therapy. Between cheeky (and suprisingly catchy) songs, a bit of improv and the comedy stylings of Louis' surreal character Mr Johnson, the aim is for the audience to go away feeling inspired.

BROKEN BARD will be running from 14th August to 25th August at The Spare Room at The Caves, run by Just The Tonic.

MANBOY will run from 18th August to 25th August at Hill Street Theatre, by Braw Venues.

LOUIS KING will be postponing his mental breakdown until after the show runs.

So where does the money go?

My name is Louis. I am writing and performing two one-man shows at Edinburgh Fringe this year because apparently I don't already have enough stress in my life.

I am also doing this entirely alone - marketing, organising, writing, pitching: this has meant I've been struggling to keep my usual work going (making stupid YouTube videos) and, like a lot of new Fringe performers, need some help.

My incredible online audience have already made a big dent in my expenses, which are currently sitting at around £5000. This page is for that final push!

If you do chuck me some coin I'd love to see you at one of the shows. I'll give you a little badge with a photo of one of my rats on it.
