Aim

Help us bring our show, Bitches in Stitches: The New Grrrl Order, to Edinburgh Fringe — and make femme/them comedy impossible to ignore.

Hello, friends!

We’re Bitches in Stitches: a global all-femme/them stand-up comedy collective building rooms where nobody’s identity is the punchline — but the jokes still bite.

We started in Hong Kong in 2021 as a one-off, six-woman comedy night in a bar.

It sold out in six hours.

Five years later, we’ve grown into an international community of 90+ femme/them performers, with chapters and communities across Hong Kong, Manila, Manchester and London.

We’ve sold out shows, helped underrepresented comics get paid stage time, built safer and sharper comedy rooms, and landed features in Vogue, Rolling Stone and Tatler.

Now we’re taking our biggest leap yet:

Bitches in Stitches: The New Grrrl Order is going to Edinburgh Fringe.

And we need your help to get there — properly, visibly, and without surviving entirely on meal deals, panic and emotional support Red Bull.

The New Grrrl Order Goes to Fringe

This August, we’re heading to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe for our first-ever Fringe run. But this isn’t just another show.

The New Grrrl Order is the first version of Bitches in Stitches where most of our chapters around the world are represented on stage. Comics from across our international network are coming together for one fast, filthy, femme-forward comedy hour.

It’s sharp, shameless, community-powered, and dangerously unfiltered.

And it has one very simple rule: Nobody’s identity is the punchline.

We’re not going to Fringe to politely ask for space. We’re going to show what happens when women, non-binary, queer, trans and othered comics build the room ourselves.

To get there, we need your help

The Fringe is one of the biggest arts festivals in the world — and one of the most expensive places to put on a show.

The registration fees are real.
The accommodation prices are offensive.
The printing costs stack up fast.
And if you’re an independent, underrepresented comedy collective without a giant PR machine or serious backing, simply being in the programme isn’t enough.

Your support helps us cover the real cost of getting to Edinburgh, getting audiences in the room, and making sure The New Grrrl Order has a fighting chance to be discovered by audiences, reviewers, journalists, producers and industry people who can help this show live beyond August.

Help us cover the cost of being seen.

Your donations will cover

  • Travel — getting comics to Edinburgh from London, Manchester, Hong Kong, Manila and beyond
  • Accommodation — keeping our team housed during one of the most expensive months in Edinburgh
  • Print + promo — flyers, posters, QR boards and street materials so audiences can actually find us
  • Photography + press assets — professional images and content to help us reach media, reviewers and future audiences
  • Marketing — social content, digital promotion and the deeply unsexy admin that helps fill rooms
  • Basic Fringe survival — because comics cannot live on adrenaline, oat milk lattes and audacity alone

No amount is too small. Every contribution helps us show up louder, sharper and harder to ignore.

Why it matters

Bitches in Stitches was founded because too many women, queer, trans and non-binary comics know what it feels like to be squeezed into the “token” spot on a lineup — if we’re booked at all.

We were tired of fighting each other for five minutes on someone else’s stage. So we built our own.

In our rooms, comedy is still bold, filthy, chaotic and properly funny. But the laugh brings people in; it doesn’t push them out.

We believe comedy can be sharp without punching down.
We believe underrepresented comics deserve more than a diversity slot.
We believe audiences deserve to see how many different kinds of funny can co-exist in the world.

And we believe that when you build a room where people feel like they belong, the jokes do more than just land... They create connections.

About the show

Bitches in Stitches: The New Grrrl Order is a full hour of all-femme/them, no-filter stand-up comedy from our global collective.

Expect big laughs, big feelings and jokes you probably wouldn’t say in front of your manager.

The show brings together international comics from across our chapters and communities, including performers from the UK, Hong Kong and the Philippines. It’s part stand-up showcase, part riot grrrl group chat, part red-wine-and-rom-com sleepover... but with better punchlines.

What the press is saying

“One of the things the evening showed me was comedy’s crucial, multi-faceted role in today’s world. In some way, it’s a salve to let your worries melt away, but it’s also a medium that broaches complex and relevant topics regular conversation can’t.”

Lifestyle Asia

“The response to Bitches in Stitches has been overwhelmingly positive, especially among comedians who felt they were ostracized from the scene.”

Rolling Stone

“Bitches in Stitches sees a good laugh as an entry point for social critique: the equivalent of wrapping a pill in bacon and feeding it to your dog.”

We’re also making femme/them comics visible beyond our show

Alongside our Fringe run, we’re launching COUNT US IN — a visibility campaign, photocall and community meetup for women, non-binary, queer, trans and othered comics at Fringe.

The idea is simple:

If there isn’t a clear public count of how many femme/them comics are performing at Fringe, we’ll count ourselves in.

We’ll gather comics with their own flyers, zine-style placards and a hired photographer to create one loud, joyful image of The New Grrrl Order taking up space.

Your support helps fund the materials, photography and press push behind this campaign — helping not just our show, but other underrepresented comics at Fringe get seen too.

Help us build our FEMpire

We’ve been offered the run, booked the comics, and written the jokes. TBH, we’ve got an irresponsible amount of audacity.

Now we need help getting this show in front of the people who need to see it.

If you believe comedy rooms should be sharper, safer, stranger and less dominated by lads-lads-lads energy, please back The New Grrrl Order.

Help us get seen.
Help us get to Fringe.
Help us build our FEMpire.
